Providers in Montana may take courses with ChildCareEd and submit an individual training request form to receive credit. This includes directors, early childhood lead teachers, early childhood assistant teachers, and substitutes working in child care centers or group and family child care facilities.

The following are education and training requirements for child care providers in the state of Montana.

Orientation training

Each director, early childhood teacher, assistant teacher, and substitute working in child care centers or group and family child care facilities must complete the following training topics.

Early Childhood Lead Teacher 

  • Orientation training
  • Level 2 or higher on the ECP Practitioner Registry
    • 60 hours of approved training in the past 5 years
    • Annual training required for renewal: 16 hours of approved training 

Early Childhood Assistant Teacher

  • Orientation training

Child Care Center Director

  • Orientation training
  • Level 4 or higher on the ECP Practitioner Registry
    • Current national CDA credential
    • 20 semester college credits in Early Childhood Education/Child Development
    • Annual training required for renewal: 16 hours of approved training

  • Instructor-Led: Unlimited online training, plus all CDA online training courses, and one Virtual Class each month led by a trained Educational Specialist
