ChildCareEd has on staff Louisiana Pathways approved Independent Trainers. ChildCareEd courses are accepted by the Louisiana Department of Education for continuing education for those who work in Type I, Type II, and Type III childcare centers or in family child daycare homes. This includes directors, early learning staff, and providers.

Annual Training Requirements for all staff and providers working in child care centers or daycare homes:

• 12 hours

Child Care Center Staff Education and Training Requirements:

Director I requirements:

• CDA Credential and
• 30 clock hrs. approved Administrative Training Categories

Director II requirements:

• CDA Credential and
• 45 clock hrs. approved Administrative Training Categorie

Child Care Assistant Teacher I requirements:

• 90 clock hours of instruction

Child Care Assistant Teacher II requirements: 

• CDA Credential

Child care Teacher I requirements:

• CDA Credential

Child Care Teacher II requirements:

• CDA Credential and 
• 9 CEUs

Note: An Early Childhood Ancillary Certificate can be earned through a CDA program.
