Childhood obesity is a condition where excess body fat negatively affects a child's health or well-being. Due to the rising prevalence of obesity in children, and, its many adverse health effects, it is being recognized as a serious public health concern. The effects of childhood obesity can be psychological, emotional, physical, and long-term life effects. Schools play a large role in preventing childhood obesity by providing a safe and supportive environment with policies and practices that support healthy behaviors.

Childcare providers in Nevada are required to complete 2 hours of training in Child Nutrition/ Wellness annually.
The following trainings can be taken to meet the Child Nutrition/Wellness training requirement.
