Are you a childcare provider in Baltimore City who is feeling a bit intimidated by the idea of obtaining a #CDA Credential? I was too! At first glance, it seemed a bit overwhelming and I was unsure I was prepared to do all that was necessary to obtain my CDA. But once I understood the 5 Steps to Obtain a CDA Credential I realized that much of what was required I had already completed!

With the guidance of a CDA PD Specialist at ChildCareEd, I was easily able to organize my documentation and complete the remainder of the requirements. ChildCareEd’s PD Specialist walked me through each step of the process and reviewed my Portfolio as I gathered the necessary information. With their support, I was able to earn my CDA Credential in the Preschool setting and now I am working as a Lead Teacher in a child care center!

Don’t waste any more time being intimidated by the CDA process!

The process of getting a CDA credential involves five fundamental steps. These steps are crucial in ensuring one's eligibility to earn this certification and become a recognized professional in the field of #early_childhood_education. The CDA credential is an essential part of becoming an early childhood educator, and pursuing this certification is an excellent way to increase career prospects and opportunities in this field. The following are simplified ways to earn your CDA credential.

Step 1: Evaluate your eligibility by checking if you meet the necessary qualifications, such as being at least 18 years old and having a high school diploma.

Step 2: Choose a CDA setting and gather relevant materials to begin the application process. These materials will include educational transcripts, training certificates, and other supporting documents. Taking the 120-hours of training is so easy with ChildCareEd. They offer this as one course and in all CDA settings. Oh, and it was online self-paced so I was able to complete the training at my own pace.

Step 3: Prepare for the CDA exam by getting training, mentoring, and experience in the CDA setting. This step includes gaining the required number of hours of work experience, guided by a professional mentor.

Step 4: Apply for the CDA credential by submitting the necessary documents and taking the CDA exam. The exam features competency-based questions that assess your understanding of the CDA setting.

Step 5: Renew your CDA credential every three years by meeting the required #continuing_education units (CEUs) to demonstrate your ongoing commitment to professional development. This will ensure that your CDA credential remains valid and up-to-date. ChildCareEd also offers CDA renewal training!
