Here's what you need to know about the CDA Exam and how to prepare for it:

Overview of the CDA Exam:

  • Format: The CDA Exam is a computer-based multiple-choice test. It consists of questions that assess candidates' knowledge across various competency areas related to #early-childhood education, including child development, learning environments, #health-and- #safety practices, family #engagement, and professional conduct. The CDA Exam has 65 multiple-choice questions – 60 questions and 5 scenario questions (with a short narrative and photo).  

  • Duration: The Candidate will have up to one hour and 45 minutes to complete the exam.

  • Content Areas: The exam covers content areas aligned with the CDA competency goals and functional areas outlined by the Council for Professional Recognition.

  • Scoring: The exam is scored on a pass/fail basis. Candidates must achieve a passing score to earn the CDA Credential. The passing score may vary, so candidates should check the specific requirements provided by the Council for Professional Recognition.

How to Prepare for the CDA Exam:

  • Review Competency Standards: Familiarize yourself with the competency goals and functional areas outlined by the Council for Professional Recognition. Review the specific knowledge and skills required for each area to ensure you are adequately prepared for the exam.
