Throughout their daily interactions and work, early childhood educators may encounter many ethical issues with children and families. You may be asking yourself, well, what even is ethics in childcare? The answer may not be as cut and dry as some would like. For starters, did you know that there are subdivisions of ethics in the form of ethical responsibilities and ethical dilemmas? Ethical responsibilities are mandates that describe how early childhood educators are required to act and what they must do and not do whereas ethical dilemmas are situations for which there are two possible resolutions, each of which can be justified in moral terms. It is important for all educators to know the differences between the two, and to know examples of each.
H&H Child Care Training is here to help you navigate these questions as we are offering our The Ethical Code of Child Care course.
