ChildCareEd courses may be used as professional learning activities for providers' annual Continuous Professional Learning Portfolio Cycle.
Registered Early Childhood Educators are required to participate in the Continuous Professional Learning Program developed by the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE).
In Ontario, the regulations for education and training for child care providers are established by the Ministry of Education. The specific rules and requirements are set out under the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014 (CCEYA) and its accompanying regulations, including Ontario Regulation 137/15. These regulations define the qualifications, training, and ongoing professional development that child care providers must meet.
The College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE) also plays a significant role in regulating the professional standards and continuous professional learning (CPL) for Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECEs). The CECE enforces the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, which ensures that RECEs maintain a high level of competence and ethical conduct in their profession.
