Job description
The Rabbi Joseph Weinberg Early Childhood Center is seeking full or part-time teachers for our early childhood center. The RJWECC is a play-based, Jewish, social constructivist program that is inspired by the schools in Reggio Emilia Italy. We are looking for experienced early childhood educators to partner with and guide learning for children ages 18 mo.-5 years who are dedicated to exploration, promote independence, and have a strong belief in the capabilities of children. Preference for teachers with infant and toddler experience and credentials.
The RJWECC is located in a spacious facility on a beautiful campus in Potomac, MD.
Responsibilities include:
· Preparing, planning and successfully implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum.
· Helping each child to become aware of his/her role as an integral member of a group and creating an atmosphere of inclusion for students and their families.
· Observing and documenting individual children, interactions, and processes in the classroom. As well as using this documentation in monitoring progress and planning experiences in the classroom.
· Integrating Jewish content and values in a meaningful and fluid manor in throughout the classroom.
· Conducting parent-child interviews and conferences in accordance with procedures outlined by the school administration.
· Participating in recommended training programs, team planning meetings, conferences, courses, and other aspects of professional growth.
Qualifications and Skills:
· Candidates must have:
A college degree (BA/BS or CDA) or higher in early childhood education/child development or the equivalent coursework.
· Classroom experience working with children 2-5 years old.
· A demonstrated understanding of children 2-5 years old in social/emotional, language and literacy, cognitive, and physical development.
· Demonstrated professionalism and excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Knowledge of Judaism or a willingness to learn and implement Judaic content into the classroom.
- Preference for teachers with the 45 hour Infant and Toddler Curriculum Training.
