Takoma Park Child Development Center is seeking a Deputy (Assistant) Director to assist with center operations, curriculum development and implementation, center licensing and accreditation, and teacher professional development.

Required Skills, Education, and Experience

The following trainings are required
45 Hours Director-Administration ONLINE

● Business management: Detail-orientated and organized, ability to organize an office and its files
and accounts, keep up with state and county child care laws and requirements.
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills: Able to confidently take prospective
parents on a tour, explain our operations and philosophy to families, write newsletters, emails, and
handbooks, and run staff meetings.
● Leadership skills: Ability to keep staff motivated and resolve conflicts. Must have at least three
years of management or leadership experience in a child care center, school or other educational
program setting. Self-motivated with the ability to problem solve and make decisions
independently, but also know how and when to get buy-in from stakeholders as necessary.
● Classroom experience: Minimum of three years experience working primarily with toddlers
and/or preschoolers in a licensed child care center. Experienced with classroom management
approaches.
● Love of children: Must enjoy teaching, spending time with, and developing positive relationships
with children and their families.
● Health and safety knowledge: Must have a good knowledge of child safety requirements and be
up-to-date on first aid and COVID-19 era protocols.
● Crisis management: Strong crisis management abilities, able to remain cool and composed in a
crisis.
● Technology literacy: Ability to use, manage, understand, and assess today’s technology to
communicate with parents and staff, create materials, and maximize the Center’s operations.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google applications, QuickBooks, and education
technology.
● Education: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
● Credentialed with the state of Maryland.
● Qualified through OCC as a child care administrator.
● Spanish language proficiency is a plus.

Compensation Type: yearly
