This course is designed to equip healthcare professionals with the essential skills and knowledge to respond effectively to cardiac and respiratory emergencies. As a foundational component of resuscitation training, Basic Life Support (BLS) focuses on CPR, AED use, and choking relief for adults, children, and infants.
Participants will learn to recognize life-threatening emergencies, perform high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations, and utilize an AED promptly. Additionally, the course emphasizes the importance of teamwork and effective communication within a healthcare setting.
After succesfully completing your on-line portion you will attend an in-house skills session which is approximately a 30-60 minute on-site evaluation.
Students must demonstrate how to assess and check for scene safety and responsiveness, initiate the 911 system and AED, check for breathing and pulse, perform adult, child, and infant CPR, the use of an airway device, along with incorporating the use of an AED.
Upon successful completion of the skills evaluation, each student will receive a 2-year certification from the American Heart Association. Each student must present their online Completion Certificate to the skills evaluator.
Intended Audience: Physicians, medical technicians, dentists, nurses, therapists, medical students, nurse practitioners, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals requiring BLS certification.
Successful completion of this course leads to BLS certification, a mandatory credential for many healthcare positions.
